We teach by means of short, simple, sermons along with interactive games and questions. Students sit at tables in small groups to discuss answers and collaborate for games. Students are free to enter the room to hang out before service as long as an adult is present.
In short, the doctrine is baptist. Mr. DeWoody, the junior high bible teacher who is a man of genuine and strong faith, oversees the production and validity of sermons produced. A comprehensive explanation of the doctrine that will be taught can be found in Greg Ogden’s Discipleship Essentials.
The topics that may be covered in this bible study include, but are not limited to, bible characters, biblical themes, discipleship, doctrine, family, life issues, friendship, identity, spiritual growth, spiritual disciplines, apologetics, and prayer.
Other difficult topics that may be mentioned such as, but not limited to, cursing, death, lust, pornography, sex outside of marriage, hell, meaning of life, theodicy, abortion, bestiality, racism, debt, lending, blasphemy, witchcraft, idolatry, divorce, relationships, and homosexuality.
We want to prepare the junior high and high school students with biblical truth to face these difficult topics that they will eventually face. For the scriptures say "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." - 1st Peter 5:8 NIV
The scripture is studied extensively beforehand to write a sermon that is approved by the adult mentor, Mr. DeWoody. Some resources for interpretation include, but are not limited to, gotquestions.org, BlueLetterBible.org, biblegateway.com, C. S.
